Noel to have minor surgical procedure on left knee
It's just one injury leading to another for Philadelphia 76ers center Nerlens Noel.
While receiving treatment for a left adductor strain, which was first diagnosed Oct. 6, the 22-year-old big man reported soreness in his left knee.
Trips to multiple specialists eventually revealed Noel had an inflamed plica, which is a "fold of synovial membrane most commonly in the anteromedial aspect of the knee," according to PhysioWorks.com.
Noel will undergo a minor surgical procedure in the coming days to address the soreness, the team announced Friday.
Head coach Brett Brown recently told reporters that he doesn't expect Noel to be in the lineup for the season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 26, but that was before it was revealed he would need to get his left knee fixed.
There's currently no timetable for Noel's return to the lineup.
In 67 appearances during the 2015-16 campaign, Noel averaged 11.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 29.3 minutes.
