Spurs' Ginobili, Parker ride pine against Pelicans

The San Antonio Spurs' old timers got their first break early this season.
Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili were rested for the Spurs' home opener against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night. Both played in the first two games of the season - road wins in Golden State and Sacramento.
Ginobili, 39, played in 58 games last season while Parker, 34, played in 72.
Danny Green also remained out for the Spurs with a left quad strain.
The move to sit the veterans for the team's home opener could be viewed as a head-scratcher given the Spurs play in Miami against the Heat on Sunday, but coach Gregg Popovich has never been known for scheduling decorum.
