Pelicans' Cunningham suspended 1 game for DUI plea
New Orleans Pelicans forward Dante Cunningham was suspended one game by the NBA on Friday for pleading guilty "to operating a motor vehicle in a negligent manner while exhibiting the effects of having consumed alcohol."
Cunningham will serve the suspension Friday against the Phoenix Suns, according to the league.
Cunningham was arrested for the offense while driving in Clark County, Washington, in June. It's not the first time he's had trouble with the law: He was arrested in 2014 after a woman alleged Cunningham made "terroristic threats" toward her and committed domestic abuse, though both charges were ultimately dropped.
The 29-year-old is in his third season in New Orleans, and scored 15 points in last Friday's loss to the Golden State Warriors.
