DeRozan chimes in on U.S. election: 'It's a mockery, it's a joke'

With a few rare exceptions, the NBA populace typically leans Democrat, which partially explains why the predominant response to Republican nominee Donald Trump winning the 2016 presidential election has been one of disappointment.

Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan tried to couch his thoughts on the election when approached by reporters Wednesday, but he couldn't hold back.

"Ah, I'm not about to speak on that, hell nah," DeRozan said according to Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun, before adding that, "It's a mockery. It's a joke."

DeRozan's head coach Dwane Casey, a lifelong Democrat, was also disappointed but ultimately supported the will of the American populace.

"I'm disappointed but I'm also an American. I respect the position of the presidency and whoever it is I'm going to support it," Casey said.

"But disappointed being a Democrat and being for the other side, but at the end of the day, like we asked when Barack Obama was elected, let's pull behind the president and hopefully that's what we are going to do as a nation."
