Jordan brand teases return of Space Jam's Monstars for marketing campaign

Pound, Bang, Bupkus, Blanko, and Nawt are strolling back into our lives 20 years after serving as the villains in the cult classic flick "Space Jam."

Cryptic tweet alert:

The return of the Monstars coincides with the 20th anniversary of the film, while also presumably serving as part of an ad campaign centered around the re-release of the Jordan XI sneakers, which Michael Jordan donned in the movie.

A teaser video featuring the basketball juggernauts - even though they returned to their original, scrawny forms at the film's conclusion - was played after a screening of "Space Jam" on the Warner Bros. Studios lot on Sunday.

"We're really excited to actually tell this story about how the Monstars are coming back, and they're coming back with a vengeance," vice president and general manager of categories for Jordan Brand Whitney Chapman said, according to USA Today's Alysha Tsuji. "They're really pissed that they lost the game, and they're here to wreak havoc on the game of basketball.

"Lots of propaganda going on and trying to have everyone to comply with this idea of their soulless game. This marketing campaign that'll go global, the story's really going to unfold around that, and then you'll have to wait to see what happens on how this new basketballer that's here today actually rises up to defy the odds of getting after the Monstars."

Could this also be a tease for an inevitable sequel, though? Fingers crossed.
