Isaiah Thomas: Celtics gave up against Warriors
Isaiah Thomas didn't sound happy after the Boston Celtics' 104-88 home loss to the Golden State Warriors on Friday.
"We gave up," Thomas said afterward, according to Yahoo Sports' Ben Rohrbach. "Coaches too, started subbing. I don't know how I only played 27 minutes. We gave up."
Thomas was referring to substitutions in the third quarter, when the Celtics were outscored 31-9. Boston went with a lineup of Terry Rozier, Gerald Green, Jaylen Brown, Jordan Mickey, and Tyler Zeller for a good chunk of the period, although Thomas scored four of the nine points.
Thomas was more or less accurate about his minutes - he's averaging 33.4 on the season, but with Boston becoming Golden State's latest victim, coach Brad Stevens clearly decided to shut things down with the writing on the wall.
Golden State has now won five in a row, by an average of 17 points.
