Thompson drops 60 on Pacers in record time

Klay Thompson may not be the biggest star on his historically loaded team, but the All-Star shooting guard did something Monday night that neither Stephen Curry nor Kevin Durant ever has.

Thompson became the fourth player in Warriors franchise history - and the first in 42 years - to score 60 points in a game, dropping 60 on the helpless Indiana Pacers at a raucous Oracle Arena.

It's the NBA's first 60-point game since Kobe Bryant dropped 60 on the Utah Jazz in the final game of his career last April.

Even more remarkable, Thompson became the first player in the shot-clock era to score 60 points in less than 30 minutes of action, logging only 29:03 before leaving to a standing ovation late in the third quarter of a 142-106 Warriors rout.

Unlike his previous career night - which included a 37-point quarter as part of a 52-point outburst - Thompson's prolific scoring was balanced throughout his minutes on Monday, as he poured in 17 points in the first quarter, 23 in the second period, and 20 points in the third.
