It wasn't just the eccentric outfits that made Craig Sager a larger than life sideline presence, as in addition to being one of the sports world's best reporters, the colorful Sager possessed the rare ability to laugh at himself while charming the biggest names in NBA history.

Here are some of his most memorable moments:

Sager vs. KG

Of all Sager's memorable encounters with NBA stars, none were as entertaining as his interviews of Kevin Garnett, who never held back in his comical observations about Sager's wardrobe.

Sometimes Garnett's friends would even get in on the Sager roasting, as Carmelo Anthony did in 2013, when Sager bravely asked him about a confrontation with Garnett that had gone viral earlier in the season.

Vs. The Zen Master

As hilarious as Sager's interactions with Gregg Popovich always were, his best in-game coaching interviews were often with Phil Jackson, who famously compared one Sager getup to something the Good Humor ice cream man would wear.

1st Finals game

After decades spent as the NBA's most visible reporter, Sager worked his first Finals game last June, when TNT gave him an exemption to work the ESPN sidelines for Game 6 of an epic series between LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers and the 73-win Golden State Warriors.

ESPY speech

Just as Jim Valvano and Stuart Scott had done in years past, Sager left his admirers with an inspiring, uplifting speech for the ages in acceptance of his Jimmy V award for perseverance at the 2016 ESPYs.

Hall of Famer

Sager couldn't attend his induction into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame earlier this week, but his friends and peers did their best to put his lasting legacy into words.
