LeBron: Late dunk vs. Warriors gave me Game 7 flashback

If Sunday's Christmas Day classic between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors gave you flashbacks to their epic seven-game tilt in last season's Finals, you weren't alone.

LeBron James, who made plays that called to mind his scintillating Finals performance, had a bit of deja vu before throwing down his massive go-ahead dunk in the final two minutes Sunday.

"I had a flashback when I was cutting," James told reporters after the game, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

The play he was recalling was his epic near-dunk over Draymond Green in the dying seconds of Game 7, a dunk that would've sealed the Cavs' championship with perhaps the most dramatic play in NBA history. He settled for splitting a pair of free throws to give his team an insurmountable two-possession lead with 10 seconds to play.

On Sunday, as he cut into the paint and prepared to take a similar drop-pass from a driving Kyrie Irving, he saw his chance to make it right.

"Kyrie, he sees me and if he gives it to me (I thought), 'I've got to get this one home because I wasn't able to get the one back in June and all,'" James said. "Kyrie made an unbelievable pass and I just tried to make myself aware. I believe in energy, the ball will find energy, and I was able to slam it home."
