Here is a look at the Squad Up daily NBA fantasy picture for Monday, Jan. 2:
Dynamic Duos
- PG Russell Westbrook (98K) and C Enes Kanter (42K), Thunder (at Bucks): It's rare that Westbrook is assigned a sub-100K salary; he's so relatively inexpensive that a lineup featuring fellow triple-double aficionado James Harden is possible. Kanter has a bench role, but has nevertheless scored at least 19 points in each of his last five games, while also averaging 6.2 rebounds during that stretch.
- SG James Harden (96K) and PF Ryan Anderson (49K), Rockets (vs. Wizards): Despite a 53-point, 17-assist, 16-rebound triple-double on Saturday, Harden's price is surprisingly low for a home encounter with the Wizards. Anderson is prone to the occasional dud, but has three efforts of at least 22 points in his last five games. Teams are shooting 37.3 percent from long range against Washington, the fourth-highest mark in the league.
- SF Kevin Durant (84K) and SG Klay Thompson (57K), Warriors (vs. Nuggets): Durant also comes at a price lower than his usual valuation, despite having produced a triple-double in his last outing. Thompson comes at a friendly salary and averages slightly more field goal attempts than PG Stephen Curry (75K). The NBA's highest scoring team, Golden State should keep on rolling at home to Denver and its 27th-ranked defensive rating.
Bargain Plays

- PG Shelvin Mack (25K), Jazz (at Nets): In six games as a starter, Mack has averaged 12 points and 4.2 assists, solid but not spectacular numbers. With the oft-injured George Hill sidelined with a concussion, Mack should re-enter the starting lineup against the Nets, who possess the NBA's third-worst defensive rating and play at its fastest pace.
- C Zaza Pachulia (29K), Warriors (vs. Nuggets): Pachulia's minutes can fluctuate, but given Denver's NBA-leading 53.9 percent rebound rate, the 6-foot-11 Georgia native may see more than his typical workload. Pachulia's 17.7 percent rebound rate leads all Warriors who play at least 10 minutes per night, and it was just five games ago that he recorded his only double-double of the season.
- SG Jordan McRae (32K), Cavaliers (vs. Pelicans): McRae started in place of Kyrie Irving (hamstring) on Saturday, producing 20 points and four rebounds in 31 minutes. Should Irving sit out again, McRae could again thrive in a bigger role for the injury-riddled Cavs. Having once scored 61 points in a D-League game, he's not shy about firing away when given the chance.
Top Fades

- SG Austin Rivers (52K), Clippers (vs. Suns): Chris Paul (hamstring) will likely sit out again on Monday, so Rivers should draw another start. The task of replacing Paul's production doesn't fall on just Rivers, though; Jamal Crawford and Raymond Felton will also see significant time in the backcourt. Averaging just 2.2 assists and 1.7 rebounds, Rivers will need a big scoring night to justify his price tag, and that's not a given.
- PG Rajon Rondo (30K), Bulls (vs. Hornets): At first glance, Rondo's budget price and solid FFPG average (26.3) make an appealing combo. Recently demoted from the starting lineup, he received a DNP-CD in the Bulls' last game. There's no guarantee he'll get off the bench on Monday, either.
- C Cody Zeller (51K), Hornets (at Bulls): Averaging 10.7 points and 6.2 rebounds, Zeller lacks the explosive potential to justify his current salary. He's recorded just two double-doubles in 31 games, and similar production can easily be found on a nightly basis from far lower-priced options, including Bulls counterpart Robin Lopez (35K).
Contrarian Options

- PG Derrick Rose (64K), Knicks (vs. Magic): Point guard is a star-laden position, so Rose's recent flashes of his old form (22.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists over his last six games) may have flown under the radar. He's played at least 38 minutes in each of his last four games, and should Kristaps Porzingis (Achilles) remain sidelined, he will carry an increased scoring load once again.
- SG Gary Harris (47K), Nuggets (at Warriors): Harris is averaging 14.6 points and nearly seven combined steals, assists and rebounds in eight games since returning from a lengthy injury layoff in mid-December. The Warriors and Nuggets sit third and fifth, respectively, in pace, so the matchup is one that's conducive to Harris exceeding his typical production.
- SF Gordon Hayward (70K), Jazz (at Nets): With Hill and his 18.8 points per game out of the lineup, the onus will fall even more on Hayward to carry Utah's scoring load. During a stretch from Dec. 1 through 27 in which Hill was sidelined, Hayward had a usage rate of 29.6 percent, above his season-long mark of 28.3 percent, per NBA.com. As noted earlier, Brooklyn's fast pace and poor defense make a fantasy-friendly combination for opponents.
