Celtics' Thomas thinks Player of the Month award should be his
Boston Celtics spark plug Isaiah Thomas missed out on his second straight Eastern Conference Player of the Week nod on Monday, but he's pretty sure he deserves the monthly honor.
"Hell yeah," Thomas said, according to ESPN's Chris Forsberg. "I should definitely get that award."
He probably has a point. In the month of December, Thomas led the East and was second in the NBA in scoring, averaging 30.3 points over 12 games. On Dec. 30, he dropped a career-high 52 on the Miami Heat - 10 days after setting his previous personal best with 44 against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Only Celtics legends Larry Bird and Kevin McHale have scored more points in a single game in franchise history.
The 5-foot-9 Thomas took the Eastern Conference Player of the Week honor for Dec. 19-25, but watched John Wall win it this past week. The Eastern and Western Conference Player of the Month awards are due out this week.
