The Atlanta Hawks will soon honor one of their all-time greats at Philips Arena.

The date and details have yet to be finalized, but the Hawks will retire Pete Maravich's No. 44 jersey, according to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitutional.

Drafted with the No. 3 pick in 1970, "Pistol Pete" spent the first four years of his career with the Hawks, averaging 24.3 points, 5.6 assists, and 1.5 steals during his time in the ATL.

Atlanta will be the third NBA team to honor Maravich, joining the Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans.

The Hall of Famer will join Bob Pettit, Lou Hudson, Dominique Wilkins, and Dikembe Mutombo as the only Hawks to have their jersey retired.

Maravich died in 1988 at the age of 40 after experiencing heart failure while playing pick-up basketball.
