Watch: Waiters buries Warriors with game-winning 3-pointer
With no time-outs remaining and the Golden State Warriors having just tied the game on a Kevin Durant dunk, Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters ensured fans at American Airlines Arena that they wouldn't be seeing an overtime period against the best team in basketball on Monday.
Squaring up Splash Brother Klay Thompson, Waiters stuck a dagger right into Golden State's heart with a cold-blooded 3-pointer to put Miami up 105-102 with just 0.6 seconds left.
It was Waiters' sixth make from the perimeter on eight attempts, finishing with a game-high 33 points, five rebounds, and four assists in 32 minutes of action to hand the Heat their fourth win in a row.
The loss was just the Warriors' seventh on the season, snapping their seven-game winning streak. They hadn't dropped a game in South Beach since Jan. 1, 2011.
The Heat entered the night with just a 14 percent chance of defeating the Warriors, as well as being 10-point underdogs on the spread, according to ESPN's FiveThirtyEight.
