'There's always goofy votes': LeBron jabs at Trump in ASG discussion
LeBron James is the latest NBA personality to take a crack at the 45th president of the United States.
During a Friday discussion about All-Star voting, James joked about Donald Trump, the Republican who topped James-backed candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
"There's always goofy votes. Donald Trump is our president," James said, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
James, a noted Democrat, backed Clinton and Barack Obama in recent elections. Once the news dropped that Trump was the president-elect, the Cavaliers superstar posted an Instagram message reassuring Americans with the help of Kendrick Lamar's track "Alright."
James has also avoided Trump hotels in the wake of the election, breaking off from the Cavaliers' travel plans when they visited New York, although he said that move wasn't a statement.
The Republican National Convention was held in Quicken Loans Arena, where the Cavaliers play.
