Sacramento Kings forward Matt Barnes is expected to turn himself in to the NYPD on misdemeanor assault charges.
Barnes maintains his innocence in a brawl that broke out in a New York nightclub, but will cooperate with the investigation, according to TMZ Sports.
A "free-for-all" spilled over at Avenue nightclub, police sources described for the New York Daily News. A woman is claiming that Barnes choked her during the fracas, while Barnes says he was trying to defend himself. Another man claims that Kings center DeMarcus Cousins punched him in the head before he was attacked by Barnes' entourage.
The 36-year-old Barnes joined Sacramento on a two-year pact last summer.
