Kanter apologizes to teammates for self-inflicted injury
Enes Kanter made a mistake, and he's sorry.
The Oklahoma City Thunder big man apologized to his teammates for hurting himself in an emotional outburst, according to ESPN's Royce Young.
"Of course it's like a really sad thing because like, I mean because you're letting your teammates down when you make a mistake like that," Kanter told reporters Saturday.
"I mean your coaches down and stuff. But the only thing you can do is just, you know, you learn from it. The one thing you know I wish we could go back (in) time and then I could take it back. But mistake happens and we just got to learn from it and control your emotions."
The 24-year-old suffered a forearm fracture when he hit a chair during Thursday's victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
"It was just frustration because I know this team, my teammates, all my coaches, these fans, the whole organization trusts in me and I was trying to not make any mistakes during the game ..." Kanter said.
"I turned the ball over a few times and then I felt like really bad and I was thinking oh man I'm letting my team down. And then I came to bench, I was frustrated because I felt like I was letting everybody down and I was pretty frustrated and I hit my arm."
The Swiss center underwent surgery Friday, and is reportedly slated to miss six-to-eight weeks, which is no doubt more of a letdown than a few turnovers. Kanter, who suited up in all 82 games for OKC last year, is focused on returning as soon as possible.

He's averaging 14.4 points, 6.7 boards, and an assist for the sixth-seeded Thunder in 21.6 minutes off the bench.
Steven Adams, Domantas Sabonis, Jerami Grant, and Joffrey Lauvergne could get extra burn in Kanter's absence.
