Villanueva teases NBA comeback on Twitter: 'I want back in'

Charlie Villanueva has grown tired of sitting on the sidelines without a job in the National Basketball Association.

The former seventh overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft tweeted out Tuesday evening that he wants back in the league.

Villanueva's last taste of NBA action came during the 2015-16 campaign as a member of the Dallas Mavericks, where he averaged 5.1 points and 2.5 rebounds primarily as a reserve in 62 appearances, although he shot just 38.2 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from 3-point range.

In an extremely limited role, his major claim to fame that season came during the playoffs when he interrupted the pregame dance routine of Cameron Payne and Russell Westbrook.

Dallas chose not to bring him back for a third season following two separate one-year contracts.

Playing overseas in China was reportedly an option, but that never amounted to anything.

In 656 career appearances with the Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, and Toronto Raptors, Villanueva averaged 10.4 points and 4.6 rebounds on 43.5 percent shooting.
