Curry out of Three-Point Contest for first time in 5 years

The NBA Three-Point Contest will be without Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry this year for the first time since 2012.
The reigning two-time MVP and 2015 Three-Point Contest champ has opted not to participate in the event. The eight-man field was announced Thursday night.
Curry, who finished runner-up in the competition last year to teammate Klay Thompson, leads the NBA in made 3-pointers for the fifth consecutive season. He's shooting 42.1 percent on 9.9 long-range attempts per game.
The 28-year-old has taken part in the All-Star Saturday showcase five times in his eight-season career.
