Thompson is the reigning champion, having defeated Warriors teammate Stephen Curry and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker in the finals of last year's competition in Toronto.
He also holds the contest record for most points in a single round (27 of a possible 34), which he set in 2016.
With a second straight win Feb. 18, Thompson would become just the seventh player ever (after Larry Bird, Craig Hodges, Peja Stojakovic, Jeff Hornacek, Mark Price, and Jason Kapono) to emerge victorious in the competition multiple times.
