T.J. McConnell is fast becoming one of the NBA's most devastating closers. That's right, T.J. McConnell.
The Philadelphia 76ers point guard hit his second game-winner in as many months on Thursday night, dropping the Orlando Magic with this go-ahead pull-up jumper after corralling the loose ball off a jump.
The Magic, who'd started the game on a 21-6 run and led by six with under two minutes to play, had just gotten a go-ahead bucket and a lead-saving block from Nikola Vucevic. But after forcing and losing the jump ball, and allowing McConnell to penetrate and score, they were left with no timeouts, and Evan Fournier couldn't break a trap after taking the inbound with 5.8 seconds remaining.
The win pulled the Sixers, who were playing without Joel Embiid, into a virtual tie with the Magic in the Eastern Conference standings.
