Lakers hold meeting with Larry Sanders

The Los Angeles Lakers could soon have a new big man patrolling the middle.

The Lakers met with free-agent center Larry Sanders on Monday, as the 28-year-old continues to seek a return to the NBA.

After taking a personal leave of absence in December 2014, Sanders was bought out by the Milwaukee Bucks later that season following his second suspension for marijuana use. The 6-foot-11 big man checked into a hospital program for anxiety, depression, and mood disorders just days later.

While he admits that he's yet to see him play since 2014, Lakers head coach Luke Walton is well aware of what Sanders can bring to the table.

"He was a great rim-protector, great rebounder," Walton told reporters.

The former first-rounder averaged 6.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks over 233 career games with Milwaukee.

The Lakers' roster currently stands at 15 players, meaning they would need to make a subsequent move if they choose to ink Sanders to a deal.
