'Where I want to be': Cousins intent on extension with Kings

For those trying to rescue DeMarcus Cousins from the smoking wreckage that is the Sacramento Kings: Keep dreaming.

The Kings reportedly plan to lock down Cousins to a massive five-year extension worth $219 million this summer and should that offer be extended, Cousins wouldn't have any desire to change teams.

"I'm very happy," Cousins told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. "It's where I want to be."

The Kings have been a disaster on and off the court in Cousins' seven-year tenure, but there's a faint glimmer of hope this season as Sacramento is hot on the tails of the Denver Nuggets in the race for eighth.

The scant scent of his first potential playoff bid has Cousins convinced that the Kings are on the "right path."

"I think we're on the right path this season. We're playing the best basketball of the season so far. Our team is extremely confident. We believe we can make this push and make it happen. We've been preaching it all year. It's on us to make it happen."

Cousins added he feels attached to the city of Sacramento.

"I'm a guy that's all about loyalty and honesty. It's hard, but at the end of the day you gotta remember that this is a business. Your expectations can't be too high when it comes to trust and loyalty. I realize that. I know it's a business. At the end of the day I'm not always shocked. It still catches me off guard sometimes, but I'm not shocked."
