L2M report: Celtics' Smart fouled Butler on game-winning play
While Boston Celtics fans will almost certainly disagree, the NBA has come to a conclusion regarding Thursday's controversial finish at The United Center.
The NBA's last-two minute report ruled that officials correctly called Marcus Smart for a shooting foul on Jimmy Butler with less than a second remaining in the contest.
"Smart (BOS) makes contact with Butler's (CHI) arm that affects his jump shot attempt," the report stated. "Any contact to a shooter's hand, arm, or wrist prior to the release of a shot is considered a foul."
The Celtics certainly thought otherwise, as several players chose to rip the decision following the contest, including Isaiah Thomas, who deemed it a "horrible call."
Butler went on to hit both free throws, and the Bulls held on to grab the 104-103 victory.
