Report: Suns interested in Derrick Favors
Brad Rempel / USA TODAY Sports
The Phoenix Suns are hoping to pounce on a buy-low opportunity.
The Utah Jazz are testing the market for power forward Derrick Favors and they have a suitor in the Suns, sources told Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Favors has struggled since undergoing knee surgery. The 25-year-old is averaging 9.2 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting 46.9 percent from the field - down from the 16.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 52.1 percent shooting he posted in the two seasons prior.
Utah could be headed for a cap crunch with key players such as Gordon Hayward and George Hill due for significant raises in free agency. That could lead them to shed a salary like Favors, although Jones notes that Utah still views Favors as an important piece.
