'Fire and Ice': Boogie nicknames Brow pairing
The league's best backcourt is called the Splash Brothers. The league's best frontcourt will henceforth be known as "Fire and Ice" - if its hotter element gets his way.
DeMarcus Cousins was introduced for the first time as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, and the 26-year-old quickly got started on giving himself and Anthony Davis a nickname.
"You've got a little fire and a little ice," Cousins said of the formidable Pelicans frontline, according to Jim Eichenhofer of Pelicans.com.
The tempestuous Cousins is a volcano waiting to erupt. He certainly provides the Pelicans with a fire that they've lacked in recent years, and cited his league-leading technical foul tally to illustrate his passion for the game.
Asked how competitive he is, Cousins jokingly answered, "About 17 technicals worth."
That leaves the unflappable Davis as ice. The Brow is definitely the cooler head of the two - although that's not particularly difficult - and quietly dismantles defenses without fanfare.
Playing separately, "Fire and Ice" have combined for 55.5 points, 22.5 rebounds, seven assists, 2.7 steals, and 3.8 blocks per game this season. Good luck to their opponents.
