Cousins fined $50K for 'directing inappropriate language' at fans
DeMarcus Cousins' temper and foul mouth continue to cost him a good chunk of change.
The New Orleans Pelicans big man has been fined $50,000 for "directing inappropriate language" toward fans on multiple occasions, the NBA announced Thursday.
The first incident occurred March 5 during a 105-97 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center, with Boogie caught on camera cursing at a fan while walking to the bench.
The very next night after the Pelicans fell 88-83 at Vivint Smart Home Arena to the Utah Jazz, Cousins told a fan to "sit your fat ass down" after they called him "soft."
This isn't the first time this season that Cousins' bank account has been hit hard by league officials. The All-Star center has been fined for exceeding the limit for technical fouls, throwing his mouthpiece, and entering the stands, as well as going on a verbal tirade against a reporter while with the Sacramento Kings.
He's averaging 22.1 points, 13.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.4 steals on 42.9 percent shooting in his first seven games with the Pelicans, while maintaining his league lead in technical fouls with 20.
