Cavaliers officially sign Larry Sanders
The reigning NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to a contract with center Larry Sanders, the team announced Monday.
The deal will likely include an option for the 2017-18 campaign.
Sanders is reportedly in Cleveland with his agent, with a physical exam set for Monday morning.
He will fill the void created by Andrew Bogut, who will reportedly be waived after suffering a broken leg within the first minute of his debut with Cleveland on March 6 against the Miami Heat.
The plan is for Sanders to spend most of the remainder of the regular season down in the D-League with the Canton Charge, according to NBA.com's David Aldridge.
Last taking the floor for the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 23, 2014, Sanders had heavily teased his return to basketball over the past several months on social media, going as far as tweeting out that he'll need his "goggles back."
Several violations of the Association's drug policy, as well as bouts with depression and anxiety which led to checking himself into a hospital, ultimately forced Sanders from the league.
In 233 appearances for the Bucks, Sanders averaged 6.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.8 rejections on 50 percent shooting from the field.
