Celtics' Thomas to miss next 2 games with knee bruise
The Boston Celtics will be without Isaiah Thomas for their weekend road trip to Brooklyn and Philadelphia, the team announced Thursday.
The All-Star point guard will stay behind to rest a bone bruise in his right knee. It's unclear if the injury is a longer-term thing, or if the Celtics are taking the opportunity to get Thomas some rest when they take on the abysmal Nets and Embiid-less 76ers.
The Celtics are 1-3 this season in games Thomas has missed, though those losses all came against quality opponents in the Raptors, Thunder, and Spurs, and Boston has only been marginally worse overall when Thomas isn't on the floor.
If the injury lingers past the weekend, the Celtics may have cause for concern. They return home Monday for a crucial tilt against the Washington Wizards.
