It may have looked like bad blood between rivals, but Russell Westbrook says he was merely sticking up for a teammate during Monday's skirmish with Steph Curry.
"I think Curry tried to get into it with Semaj (Christon), tried to push him, and I stepped right between," Westbrook told ESPN's Royce Young. "Once I see something going down with my teammates, I'm hopping in."
Tempers flared in the second quarter after Curry and Christon got into a shoving match. Westbrook immediately stepped in, and all three players, along with Draymond Green, received technical fouls.

The animosity between the two appeared to pick up last week, as Westbrook took a shot at Curry for suggesting James Harden deserved the MVP award over him.
Curry ultimately got the last laugh, though, as the Warriors won 111-95.
