76ers' Joel Embiid: 'Very likely' to undergo knee surgery
Embiid (knee) is "very likely" to undergo knee surgery, ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports.
Analysis:
The news isn't all that surprising after the 76ers announced back in February that Embiid was dealing with a partially torn meniscus, but there had been hope that the tear was small enough to avoid surgery. It looks as though that won't be the case, meaning Embiid will likely go under the knife for the third time in the last three years. The No. 3 pick in the 2014 draft has already undergone two surgeries to address a navicular bone fracture in his right foot, which kept him out of action for the entirety of the 2014-15 and 2015-16 campaigns. At this point, with the procedure still pending, Embiid is without any sort of timetable, but the hope is that he'll be back at full strength for the start of training camp in the fall.
