Tim Duncan named newborn daughter after 'Guardians of the Galaxy' character
Retired San Antonio Spurs star Tim Duncan and longtime girlfriend Vanessa Macias recently welcomed a baby girl, and her name is one comic book fans should recognize.
Duncan announced his daughter's birth on the latest episode of the "Road Trippin' with RJ & Channing" podcast, hosted by Cleveland Cavaliers teammates Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye, revealed that he chose the name Quill for her after "Guardians of the Galaxy" character Peter Quill.
"Star-Lord, his original name is Peter Quill, and he's really just cool as shit," Frye explained to Jefferson (starts at the 17:50 mark).
"My girlfriend, she also writes a lot too, so it's like a pen quill," Duncan added. "It's a combination of all the things."
Duncan is a huge comic book enthusiast and was featured on a special cover of Marvel's "The Punisher" in 2014.
