The New Orleans Pelicans have ruled out Omer Asik and Quincy Pondexter for the remainder of the season, the team announced Thursday.
Asik has been diagnosed with a gastrointestinal infection and isn't expected to return to basketball activities for another three-to-four weeks. The 30-year-old averaged 2.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 0.3 blocks on 47.7 percent shooting this season.
Pondexter underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee back in January and hasn't played in an NBA game since the 2014-15 campaign.
