Former Chicago Bulls general manager Jerry Krause will be among the Class of 2017 inductees to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, sources told the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson.
Krause died March 21 at the age of 77 after a long illness. He was GM of the Bulls from 1985-2003, and responsible for surrounding Michael Jordan with the talent that won six NBA championships in the 1990s.
Most notably, he traded for a little-known Scottie Pippen on draft night in 1987 and hired Phil Jackson out of the now-defunct Continental Basketball Association.
Formal Hall of Fame announcements will be made Saturday at the Final Four. Kansas men's coach Bill Self is another reported inductee.
