Man convicted of killing Michael Jordan's father seeks new trial
James Jordan - the father of NBA icon and current Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan - was tragically killed in Lumberton, N.C. on July 23, 1993.
Daniel Andre Green, now 42, was convicted of the crime, and is currently seeking a new trial due to what he feels to be misconduct on both the part of law enforcement and the jury, according to the Associated Press.
A Superior Court judge has agreed to accept new witness statements as evidence should Green get a hearing following his request for a new trial.
Green, who is currently serving a life sentence, denies murdering Jordan, acknowledging that he aided co-defendant Larry Demery in disposing of the body.
Jordan was shot to death while asleep in his car after returning home from a funeral. with his body found in a swamp a little under two weeks later in Bennettsville, S.C.
