Magic: I can't ask Paul George to join Lakers, but I'll be 'wink-winking'
If his million-dollar smile and charming eyes can lead to tampering charges, Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson might've drawn the ire of the NBA's league office during a recent appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
After being asked about the potential recruitment of pending 2017 free agent Chris Paul, potential 2018 free agent Paul George, and fictional hoops phenom Teen Wolf, Johnson explained his understanding of league tampering rules. He then described what would happen if he and George saw each other on vacation.
"We're gonna say 'hi,' because we know each other," Johnson said. "You just can't say, 'hey, I want you to come to the Lakers,' even though I'm going to be wink-winking, like (winks). You know what that means, right?"
George, a four-time All-Star who's spent his entire seven-year career with the Pacers, has been linked to his hometown Lakers before.
