Former Pacer Granger on George: 'You can't fault him if he leaves Indiana'
Paul George can't become a free agent until after next season, but speculation over his long-term future in Indiana began as soon as his Pacers were eliminated from the playoffs Sunday by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Former teammate Danny Granger, who spent nine years with the Pacers, appeared on CBS' "Reiter Than You" on Monday to give his thoughts on what might happen to PG-13 with one year to go on his contract.
"You look at him in that press conference (after losing to Cleveland) and his face and the dejection on it – the guy wants to win," Granger said. "Money don't make everybody happy, but winning and success and your craft, that does fill a void that a lot of these players have. So you can't fault him if he leaves Indiana, I'll tell you that."
Complicating matters is that George could potentially be named to an All-NBA team in May, making him eligible for a super-max contract with the Pacers to the tune of $200 million, up to $70 million more than he could get from another club.
