Report: Magic interested in McHale as team president
The Orlando Magic are interested in Hall-of-Famer and current TNT analyst Kevin McHale for their vacant team president position, according to USA Today's Sam Amick.
Team owner Rich DeVos and CEO Alex Martins are handling the process.
The franchise recently parted ways with general manager Rob Hennigan following yet another disappointing season sans a playoff berth. The hope is that the Magic could find someone to fill the president role that also has experience as a GM.
Names like Cleveland Cavaliers GM David Griffin and Larry Bird - who stepped down Friday as president of the Indiana Pacers - have also been tossed around as potential candidates for the job in Orlando.
McHale was vice president of basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves from 1995-2008 before stepping down to once again take over as head coach for a brief stint.
He signed a multi-year contract to return to Turner Sports in 2016, and has worked as an on-air analyst since.
The Magic are coming off a lowly 29-53 campaign, extending their postseason drought to five years (2012).
