Celtics tie franchise record with 19 3-pointers in win over Wizards

An early deficit wasn't enough to deter the Boston Celtics on Sunday.

After watching the Washington Wizards score the first 16 points in the contest, the scrappy Celtics clawed their way back, tying a franchise record with 19 made 3-pointers in their Game 1 victory.

Jae Crowder led the way for the Celtics' 3-point assault, going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc in the 123-111 win. Isaiah Thomas (five 3-pointers), Avery Bradley (three), Kelly Olynyk (two), Al Horford, Marcus Smart, and Jaylen Brown all netted at least one long-bomb for Boston.

With Thomas dominating in the pick-and-roll, the Wizards had zero answer for the Celtics' offensive attack, as the 5-foot-9 point guard had little difficulty finding open teammates throughout the contest. Despite attending his sister's funeral just a day earlier, Thomas put together arguably his best performance of the postseason, finishing with a game-high 33 points to go along with nine assists, a rebound, and a block.

After falling behind by as many as 17 points early in the contest, the Celtics quickly found themselves ahead in the second half behind a third quarter that saw them outscore Washington by 20 points.

Game 1 likely couldn't have gone much worse for the Wizards, who lost starting power forward Markieff Morris to an ankle injury midway through the second quarter.
