Report: Lowry will consider joining Western Conference teams

Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry will give some thought to joining a Western Conference team after he becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer, according to NBA journalist Marc Stein.

Lowry will almost assuredly opt out of his contract in order to get a raise on the $12 million he made this season.

While only the Raptors can offer him a max deal in the vicinity of $200 million over five years, there's a legitimate question mark around giving a presently injured 31-year-old that sort of contract. Lowry missed the Raptors' last two games of the playoffs with an ankle injury.

Outside of the Raptors and his hometown Philadelphia 76ers, there should be several suitors for the three-time All-Star. In terms of Western Conference contenders, the San Antonio Spurs stick out as a possibility, given their anticipated salary-cap room and need for a point guard to take over starter's duties from Tony Parker.
