Wizards' Morris still resents snub from top-30 PF rankings
Markieff Morris sure knows how to hold a grudge.
Bleacher Report published a piece at the halfway point of the 2016-17 NBA regular season ranking the top 30 power forwards in the Association. Morris failed to crack the list, and to this day, the Washington Wizards big man hasn't let that snub go.
"Whoever wrote that is an a--hole," Morris said following practice Tuesday, according to CSN Mid-Atlantic's Chase Hughes. "(They) don't know anything about basketball. You've never watched any basketball in your life if you don't rank me in the top 30.
"I've been in the league for (six) years. All (six) years I have produced. To not be in the top 30 is disrespectful."
While Morris is still ticked off about not being mentioned, his attention is primarily set on getting the Wizards to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 1979.
"At the time it gave me motivation. But now we are in it together. We're just trying to get this victory," he added. "I'm just excited about the team and the chance now to get the job done in Boston now."
Washington is locked at 2-2 with the Boston Celtics in the second round, with Game 5 going down Wednesday night at TD Garden.
Morris is averaging 11.4 points on 40.6 percent shooting, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in his first-ever playoff run. His net rating of 17.9 also ranks fourth among all players who have competed this postseason.
