Report: Kings a strong contender to sign Teodosic
The Sacramento Kings have spent the past several years hunting for stability at the point guard position, and after countless flops, they may be ready to expand their search beyond the confines of the North American talent pool.
The Kings are a "legit contender" to sign coveted CSKA Moscow point guard Milos Teodosic, a source told international basketball reporter David Pick.
The 30-year-old is coming off a season in which he averaged 16.2 points and seven assists with a .443/.375/.922 shooting line, on his way to All-EuroLeague second-team honors. He also dazzled with his flashy play and unique passing ability at last summer's Rio Olympics, establishing himself on the NBA's radar.
Pick also reports that Teodosic has a strong relationship with Kings general manager and fellow Serb Vlade Divac, which could give Sacramento a leg up over other potential suitors, such as the Philadelphia 76ers.
Teodosic, whose contract with CSKA is set to expire, has made it clear that he's strongly considering a move to the NBA. He also said any team he considers signing with will have to meet his "competitive ambitions," which doesn't exactly scream Kings.
CSKA is also expected to make a strong push to retain him.
