Report: Hawks considering Dumars, Billups, Barry for GM job
A cross section of former quality NBA guards - Joe Dumars, Chauncey Billups, and Brent Barry - are being considered by the Atlanta Hawks for their general manager job, sources told The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The position was opened with the resignation of Wes Wilcox earlier this month in a major front-office reshuffling. Wilcox is still with the Hawks in another capacity, while head coach Mike Budenholzer relinquished the team president role.
Dumars, who won two NBA championships as a Detroit Pistons player, was president of that team from 2000-14, building the squad that won the 2004 title. Billups played for those Pistons, retiring in 2014. Barry played in the NBA from 1995-2009, and both he and Billups are working as broadcasters.
The Hawks have also been cleared to interview Houston Rockets VP Gersson Rosas and New York Knicks director of player personnel Mark Hughes, according to Wojnarowski.
