Warriors want Jerry West to return as consultant
The NBA's en vogue franchise wants to retain the services of The Logo.
Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob told the Bay Area News Group's Tim Kawakami that he hopes executive consultant Jerry West will remain with the organization after his contract expires following the NBA Finals.
"We want him back," Lacob said. "We love him. He's been a great contributor to the organization, someone I consider a personal friend as well. We would love him back, and we've made that known."
West turns 79 on Sunday, so the decision is his if he wants to commit to a further role. Previous rumors that he would consider returning to the Lakers - the team he played for from 1960-74 and ran as general manager from 1982-2000 - are unlikely now, according to Kawakami.
West is one of the most esteemed figures in basketball history. As a player, coach, and executive, the West Virginia native has won eight NBA titles.
