Lakers select Lonzo Ball with No. 2 pick
With the second pick in Thursday's NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers selected UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball.
The 19-year-old guard is coming off of an incredible freshman campaign in which he averaged 14.6 points per game on 55.1 percent shooting, and led the nation in assists.
At 6-foot-6, Ball has excellent size at the point guard position, and should have little trouble finding his teammates at the pro level with his world-class court vision. Ball is at his best in the open court, using his speed and high-end basketball IQ to punish opposing defenses.
While he shot the ball well for UCLA, Ball struggled at times to create his own offense, lacking the explosiveness to drive past more athletic defenders. At just 190 lbs, Ball will need to tack on some weight in the coming months to avoid being bullied by larger guards.
