LeBron on what stood out for Warriors: 'KD'
Five years ago, LeBron James got the better of Kevin Durant in the NBA Finals. And while it was only Game 1 of this year's title series, Durant came out on top Thursday.
"KD," was James' two-letter answer when asked afterward what stood out for the Golden State Warriors.
"I mean, you take one of the best teams ever assembled last year, that we saw in the regular season and in the postseason, and then in the offseason you add a high-powered offensive talent like that and a great basketball IQ like that. That's what stands out," James said.
Durant was 23 when his Oklahoma City Thunder fell in five games to LeBron's Miami Heat in the 2012 finals. On Thursday, Durant scored a game-high 38 points with zero turnovers - becoming just the third player to drop more than 35 in a finals contest without a giveaway. The others are Michael Jordan and Shaquille O'Neal.
"I mean, it's no ifs, ands, or buts. It is what it is," James said of the Cavs' 22-point loss. "We got to figure out how to combat that, which is going to be a tough challenge for us. But that's what stands out."
