Curry: 'I've always wanted to be like Allen Iverson'
Stephen Curry revealed after Game 1 of the NBA Finals that he looked up to Allen Iverson - another undersized scoring guard - when asked about his decision to wear an elbow sleeve on his shooting arm.
"Low key, I've always wanted to be like Allen Iverson," Curry said. "That was the only way that I could really come close."

Iverson homages aside, Curry has been occasionally wearing the sleeve to protect against the elbow bursitis that he has experienced throughout the playoffs. He eventually ditched the extra gear on Thursday and finished with 28 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds in a landslide victory to take a 1-0 series lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
But it makes complete sense that Curry would idolize Iverson. Not only was A.I. the most influential player at the same time Curry was a teenager, but Iverson was the rare NBA player that could dominate the league as an undersized, score-first guard.
