Klay not concerned with reduced role: 'I'm not about getting numbers'
The addition of Kevin Durant knocked Klay Thompson down the pecking order for the Golden State Warriors.
Durant replaced Thompson as either the first or second option, roughly on par with fellow MVP Stephen Curry, while Thompson now finds his offense around those two stars. Apparently, that alignment is completely fine with him so long as the Warriors get another championship.
"That's not a big deal at all," Thompson told reporters of his reduced role in the offense. "If I score six points a game and it gets us four wins and an NBA championship, I can do that every year.
"I'm not about getting numbers. I'm not about getting these gaudy stats. At the end of the day, if you win the last game, you had a great season. And that's our goal. That's what we come to expect every year now. It's a great position to be in."

Thompson struggled with his shot on Thursday, scoring just six points on 3-of-16 shooting in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, but the Warriors still won easily over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
With his diminished importance, discussion on his future with the Warriors has spawned, especially after it was brought to attention by Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard C.J. McCollum.
