Adam Silver laughs off the hunt for his secret Twitter account
Adam Silver doesn't understand why anyone cares about his private social media usage.
In a sit-down with ESPN's Rachel Nichols prior to Game 2, the commissioner of the NBA laughed off basketball Twitter's attempt to uncover his so-called secret account. "I didn't think it was so secret, to be honest," said Silver.
He continued: "I could understand there could be secrecy if I was tweeting under a pseudonym, but I'm not. I'm just following public accounts. I was an early adopter to Twitter, but I didn't quite understand the platform when it first launched, so I went on it more just to see 'alright, how does this work.' I've always been fascinated with it. The only tweeting I do is through the official NBA account but I have a very public Instagram account, I have a very public Facebook account, so I don't know what the big secret is."
Basketball Twitter has been aflutter since the revelation that Silver enjoys following the league through social media came to light. One user crafted a pretty compelling case that the protected Twitter account "@miltonpoint" could in fact be the NBA's head honcho in disguise.
