Through 2 games, NBA Finals is most-watched since 1998
After Games 1 and 2, this year's rendition of the NBA Finals is the most-watched since 1998, ESPN reports, citing Nielsen's early numbers. Inclusive of streaming numbers, the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers have attracted roughly 19.6 million viewers per night.
Last year's Finals drew roughly 18.6 million viewers. The difference translates to a five percent increase year over year.
Game 2 was particularly successful, ranking as the most-viewed Finals Game 2 since 1998, when the Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz met. This year's Game 2 averaged 19.6 million viewers and peaked at 23 million between 10-10:30 p.m. ET.
Relative to last year's Game 2 between the Warriors and Cavaliers, Sunday night's contest saw a 13 percent increase in average viewers.
Game 3 of the Finals goes Wednesday at 9 p.m.
