Cavaliers, GM Griffin agree to part ways
Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert announced that general manager David Griffin will leave his position with the organization in an official team release Monday.
Mutual disagreement over the future of the organization seems to be the point of contention between Griffin and Gilbert, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
Griffin isn't the only front-office causality Monday, as assistant general manager Trent Redden was also given his walking papers, according to David Aldridge.
Gilbert also highlighted that the team has "no announcement at this time related to new leadership."
Griffin was originally hired as Cleveland's general manager in February 2014 and helped end the city's 52-year championship drought in 2016 when the Cavs toppled the Golden State Warriors.
